He is born on 2 January, 1982 at the Koom kalan village, Ludhiana in a Sikh Jatt family. His birth name is Rupinder Singh grewal.He also have Hotel Management degree but later on he decided to quit this field for joining a Punjabi film industry. He rose to fame from his single “Phulkari” which broke many records in Punjab.

He made his debut in the 2010 movie, Mel Karade Rabba.He has also received “PTC Best Actor Award” in 2011 for his performance in 2011 blockbuster, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya. He received the “PIFAA best actor award” in 2012 along with Diljit Dosanjh & received “PTC Best actor Award” in 2015 for blockbuster- Jatt james bond along with Diljit Dosanjh.

Gippy Grewal is married to Ravneet Kaur and has two sons named, Gurfateh and Ekomkar. It is on his younger son, Gurfateh’s name, that Gippy Grewal launched his production house called, Gurfateh Films. His elder brother Sippy Grewal is based in Australia and also produces films under the banner- Sippy Grewal. ‘Carry On Jatta’ was produced under Sippy Grewal Productions.
