Ranjit Singh Bawa was born on 15 February 1989 in Wadala Granthian village near Gurdaspur. He was connected with music since his childhood. Ranjit Bawa was doing his graduation in Music from Guru Nanak College, Batala, and post-graduation from Khalsa College, Amritsar. He used to sing in his school days when he was in 6^th class, he sang a song at his school for which he was praised by his teachers and others. His music teacher Master Mangal trained him and motivated him to participate in music competitions. Ranjit Bawa participated in many singing competitions came first competition for six years in series.

Ranjit Bawa said in an interview “ For those six years, I sang a Pakistan song, Bol Miti Deya Baweya, Which made me Famous as Bawa, That is why he is also known as Bawa”. He got to fame from his single “ Jatt Di Akal”  which broke many Punjabi records. He made his debut in the 2015 Album, Mitti Da Bawa which was awarded the “Best World Album” award in the 2015 Brit Asia Award. In 2013 he has received the “ PTC Best Folk oriented Song Award” for his song ‘Jatt Di Akal’. A semi-biographical about the 1980s Punjabi activist Shaheed Bhai Jugraj Singh Toofan, Ranjit Bawa playing the title role in Toofan Singh.
